The Washington International Relations Conference (WIRC) is a one-day Model United Nations training conference for high school students. This year it will be held on Saturday, November 4th at the American University School of International Service in Washington, DC. The goal of WIRC is to introduce students to the world of Model United Nations so they can learn the crucial skills of collaboration, communication, diplomacy, negotiation, public speaking, and research. WIRC is a forum for high school students to become empowered and find their voice in the world of international relations and beyond.
WIRC offers students unprecedented opportunities for training and conference experience in Model UN, right in our nation’s capital. Students participate in morning workshop sessions and afternoon committee simulations. More importantly, WIRC is geared toward students of all skill levels, from beginner to advance delegates. Delegates complete a Session Preference Form following registration, and this allows them to select which training sessions and conference simulations they would like to attend at WIRC. This ensures that each student receives training and experience geared exactly toward their Model UN skill level. Following the training session, delegates apply their new knowledge in a committee simulation. WIRC offers various committees in a breadth of topics so delegates can practice what they learn: a diplomatic and collaborative approach to solving global issues.
Registration for WIRC is now open! The School Registration Form and Session Preference Form mentioned previously can be found at their respective hyperlinks. If your team is interested in attending the conference, please let us know as soon as possible so we can reserve a spot for your school. In order to officially register for WIRC, we ask that you complete all required documents and submit payment by Saturday, September 30th. The cost of WIRC will be $15 for delegates and a one-time $5 fee for advisors. This fee also includes lunch for delegates and advisors.
This year we look to host the best WIRC in our history. We hope you consider joining us for a day full of learning in our nation’s capital. If your school has any questions or is interested, please reach out to us at email@example.com. Our phenomenal staff look forward to seeing your school on November 4th at American University!
